• Originally in the chemical industry and with an honours degree in science, I then had a successful career as teacher and school administrator, largely in European international schools, and ultimately as head of a small independent school near London.
  
  
• Since 1999, and after undertaking relevant training, I have worked at home as a freelance copy-editor and proofreader. Leaning at first towards scientific and technical material, I now have wide experience of many types of work including school, college and university texts, literature and critical prose, PhD theses, psychotherapy, and a certain amount of fiction.
  
  
• I am a full member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP).
